Overview

miRToolsGallery is a database of miRNA tools. It provides the following services: (a) Search(b) Filter and (c) Rank the tools. Our database aim to make it easy for researchers to find the right tools or data source for their own specific study in miRNA field. And it’s also very convenient for writing a tools review paper. Now we have collect above 1000 tools. miRToolsGallery will update when every new 100 tools add in. The first public online was in 1st Oct, 2016, and latest update time is 22nd April, 2018(v1.2).

  • Filter and Rank : Give user max flexibility to filter and rank the tools and return a table view.
  • Tutorials : Give two application examples and tell user how to use miRToolsGallery.
  • Tags Gallery : Print Word Cloud for the tags.
  • Logo Gallery : Randomly list logo of tools in the database, give each tool evenly opportunity to be find by user.
  • Review Paper Gallery : List the collection of miRNA tools review papers.
  • Submit Tools : We still need all user's kindly help to improve the miRToolsGallery.

miRNAs are ~21 nucleotide long small noncoding RNA molecules, formed endogenously in most of the eukaryotes, which mainly control their target genes post transcriptionally by interacting and silencing them. While a lot of tools has been developed for animal miRNA target system, plant miRNA target identification system has witnessed limited development. Most of them have been centered around exact complementarity match. Very few of them considered other factors like multiple target sites and role of flanking regions.

Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are noncoding transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides, which show evidence of pervasive transcription and participate in a plethora of cellular regulatory processes. Although several noncoding transcripts have been functionally annotated as lncRNAs within the genome, not all have been proven to fulfill the criteria for a functional regulator and further analyses have to be done in order to include them in a functional cohort.

Given the estimate that 30% of our genes are controlled by microRNAs, it is essential that we understand the precise relationship between microRNAs and their targets. OncomiRs are microRNAs (miRNAs) that have been frequently shown to be deregulated in cancer. However, although several oncomiRs have been identified and characterized, there is as yet no comprehensive compilation of this data which has rendered it underutilized by cancer biologists.

miSEA

Submitted by ChenLiang on Fri, 09/02/2016 - 21:59

We introduce a novel web-based tool, miSEA, for evaluating the enrichment of relevant microRNA sets from microarray and miRNA-Seq experiments on paired samples, e.g. control vs.

Experimental identification of microRNA (miRNA) targets is a difficult and time consuming process. As a consequence several computational prediction methods have been devised in order to predict targets for follow up experimental validation. Current computational target prediction methods use only the miRNA sequence as input. With an increasing number of experimentally validated targets becoming available, utilising this additional information in the search for further targets may help to improve the specificity of computational methods for target site prediction.

With the rapid accumulation of microRNA (miRNAs), a class of newly identified small noncoding RNAs, in silico inference of miRNA functions has become one of the central tasks in miRNA bioinformatics. Traditional methods have helped in the understanding of miRNAs, but they also have limitations.
